Just another night out on the town, when we came across this gorgeous and multi-talented young lady. After making a stunning and breath-taking appearance at the JadaKiss record release party at Kress, in Hollywood, we just had to join up with Miss Venenosa for further indulging...
OBSCENE: Where did this beautiful and ever so rare flower originally bloom from? JAZMIN: My family's originally from El Salvador, Central America, but I was born in San Francisco, Ca. My brother, who is always getting into mischief, started a fire with his friends when he was just 5 years old! That's when my mother decided to move us to a small city called Los Molinos, about 3 hours north of San Francisco. It's was a very tiny city that had a population of 300 people and I lived on the outskirts of that. So, you could imagine how much I was exposed to. We never had cable growing up but my family would rent movies all the time and that would be my way of seeing the world.
OBSCENE: Tell us about your experience becoming a National Championship Boxer? JAZMIN: It took a tremendous amount of hard work, dedication and skills! First of all, I am the type of person who gets involved with something and works my butt off to learn it correctly and strives to become the best. Boxing is quite a challenging sport though. My coach would work me harder than any other person in the gym. I swear he was the toughest drill sergeant ever! But as a team we became great. Most of all, boxing taught me perseverance. Quitters never win and winners never quit! OBSCENE: What were some of those big breaks that helped you on your way to becoming La Flora Venenosa? JAZMIN: The biggest break I got on my way to becoming La Flora Venenosa was meeting my business partner, Gritsitory. He raised and taught me all the in's and out's of the music game. In fact, I'm still in class today and most likely will be for a very long time. He saw potential in me and gave me the opportunity to travel with him, learning everything first hand.
OBSCENE: What struggles did you encounter on your path for being noticed as an artist? JAZMIN: I have went through a lot of struggles in my life, period! As an artist, the struggles have been similar but different scenarios. Being noticed you have to make sure you make all the right moves. That means creating a product that people have to have, that they will go out and pay for. I have been creating and making La Flora Venenosa for a very long time. It has not been easy and there is a lot of trial and error. For example: What makes your favorite artist your favorite? 1. Great music! 2. Great Story! 3. Great Image! 4. Interesting Personality... and then comes popularity. Well, each one of these is hard to create and master. So, my struggle for being noticed is knocking out all the above and doing it gracefully. OBSCENE: What would you say are some of your greatest accomplishments, both personally and professionally? JAZMIN: The greatest accomplishment personally would have to be my son. I had him at a very young age, so I worked extra hard to make sure I was doing everything right. Well as right as I could. I took the best parts of how I was raised and mixed that in with Jehovah's lessons and out came this wonderful child. He is my pride and joy, like Peter Pan says, he's my happy thoughts. My greatest accomplishments professionally would have to be winning national championship titles in boxing and dropping my debut album La Flora Venenosa "The Poisonous Flower". My boxing showed me that all the intensive training, both physically and mentally, finally paid off. It was mind opening to learn that I can do whatever I set my mind to doing. Dropping my debut album allowed me to express myself and thoughts to the world. I knew life was going to be different for me after this album came out. OBSCENE: Share with us your favorite part being an female hip-hop and R&B artist? JAZMIN: Most the time we are overlooked, so being overlooked you can always guarantee an opportunity for a surprise attack. With a surprise attack, your presence will be felt quicker and faster than most. Not too many people see a female as a threat, so that's another perk!
OBSCENE: Tell us about the different music videos you've worked on? JAZMIN: My first was Sean Paul and Busta Rhyme's, "Make it Clap" video. That was such a great experience for me. I was able to see, talk to and learn from the top artists in the game. I watched that day in amazement and took home so much great knowledge. This happened at the beginning of my music career. Since then I have also done Lil Haze and Ray J's, "Work That Body", D.J. Quik and Kurrupts "New Album", Mack 10, Lil Wayne, Jazzy Pha, and Rick Ross's, "So Sharp", and Gritsitory's, "That Ain't A Problem" video. All of these videos and people I was able to work with was such a blessing! Everybody was really cool! I've recorded two videos from my debut album, "The Poisonous Flower". One being my radio hit single, "La Flora Venenosa" and the other track that happens to be one of my favorites, "That's What's Up"! Two brilliant songs that I know you will love if you go check them out. OBSCENE: Where can we go to keep up with your empowering and influential music and upcoming events? JAZMIN: You can always be sure to find out what's going on with me, Jazmin Siguenza aka La Flora Venenosa, by checking out my website www.LaFloraVenenosa.com or www.myspace.com/lafloravenenosa. I just put out my videography and some other projects I know you would love to check out. Please make sure you stop by and at least give my music a listen to. It is the type of music that will make you think, cry, laugh and just have fun and party too. If you like what you hear, you can also order my CD offline at cdbaby.com/lafloravenenosa. It would be greatly appreciated! Hope to hear from you soon. Wow, after hearing her dynamic story, it makes you think if we just put our mind to the test, we will soon find that we are more capable of achieving our goals, then we presume. We were able to see Jazmin's "day and night", through an array of her hot and sexy, athletic modeling images, as well as through her extremely talented, voice impelling music. We have recently caught up with her since our interview and much more success is to be shared, so make sure you check her out before she "blows up"...because this poisonous flower is ready to strike and fully bloom with a blinding illuminance never seen before...before Obscene that is! So until next time, keep it obscene, because we ARE where YOU want to be! |
