We recently sat down with Darksun, a metal band from Orange County.  Darksun has definitely done some big things for an independent band but it looks as though the biggest things for Darksun have only just begun.

OBSCENE: How long has DARKSUN been together?
DARKSUN: We  have been around for about 3 and a half years.

OBSCENE: How many members and who plays what?
DARKSUN: There are 4 of us im Jordan (lead singer guitar), Eric is Guitar, Chris is Bass, and Ian is drums.

OBSCENE: How did the band start? And where is the Band from?
DARKSUN: I (Jordan) formed the band in August of 2005 in Southern Orange County. Basically i set out to do 3 things....One, Find three guys who were as dedicated as myself and who wants do do music for the rest of their lives. Second, make sure all of us can work together and eventually become like brothers. It has to be like that otherwise people getting kicked out or fighting, or quitting like pussy's. Third, Make sure musically we all vibe well. To make the long story short Chris was the first guy i picked. I Knew him from years before through a friend of mine and i knew he was a good bass player, so it was a no brainer to ask him. Second came Eric. I auditioned, like i $h*t you not, 20 different guitar players and i hated all of them. One night i get a phone call from some dude who found a flier of mine at a studio, and his attitude was great over the phone and as soon as i met him i knew he was the next guy. Last was Ian. He was a pain to get (do) to the fact that he was in another band at the time i met him. But it all ended up working out and he was definitely the perfect guy for the job, he and I are very much on the same page when it comes to a lot of things. I think that’s definitely important considering our roles in the band.

OBSCENE: How many releases have you had?
DARKSUN: We have 3 independent releases. We recorded a 4 song demo with Ben Schiegal in Strongsville, Ohio at spider studios right when we were 5 minutes old in 2006. we recorded a 5 song demo in 2007 in the ghetto but it was a good learning experience . Lastly we recorded a 5 song EP in 2008 at the record studios in Orange, Ca with Eric Garner, aka E, that was an amazing recording process and the CD came out incredible it really got our street cred up. 2008 has been the biggest year for us.

OBSCENE: Where is your favorite place to play?
DARKSUN: We play quit a few places but nothing feels better than playing were it all started for you so Id have to say the Key Club in Hollywood.

OBSCENE: You guys are known for being a very powerful live act. How does the crowds reaction make you fell?
DARKSUN: When the fans go nuts while were on stage its the greatest feeling, it’s kind of a payoff and lets you know your doing things right.

OBSCENE: What is your favorite thing about your fans?
DARKSUN: Favorite thing about the fans is how much they really go out of their way to show their support.

OBSCENE: What is the writing process like?
DARKSUN: The writing process is pretty much consist of Jordan writing a song and parts to a song and foundations. Pretty much then he brings it to practice and shows everybody. then it just flows naturally and at a steady pace. everyone puts in their 2 cents and we always end up with a great song.

OBSCENE: So you guys have just entered to studio, How is it?
DARKSUN: Yes we are headed to the studio soon and we are looking forward to it.

OBSCENE: What can we expect your next album to sound like?
DARKSUN: It’s a very exciting time right now we took our 4 favorite songs from the last two years and just really tightened them up, and as for the brand new material well it’s f**king the heaviest $h*t you’ve ever heard, it definitely sounds like a whole new DARKSUN we can’t wait for everyone to hear it.

OBSCENE: Who are you recording your album with?
DARKSUN: It’s down to 2 producers right now but we’re leaning on one more than the other right now so you’ll just have to wait and see.

OBSCENE: When will the CD be completed?
DARKSUN: Hard to say at this point but if I had to guess I say March.

OBSCENE: Where can we go to get a CD?
DARKSUN: When it’s ready for the public you will be able to order it on our web page and it will be for sale at every LIVE show.

OBSCENE: Where do you see DARKSUN in 1 year?
DARKSUN: On the road touring full time with a record label to back us, and with an album waiting to come out.

OBSCENE: So are there any tours in the works?
DARKSUN: YES. We start touring this year, all the dates and details will be out there for anyone to find out as soon as it’s all locked down.
