Interview with Cory Cronk

Corey CronkOBSCENE: First let’s plug all your sponsors.
CORY: Rome Snowboards, Electric, Powder & Sun, The Hundreds, Da Kine, Dog Poo Wax, Mountain High, Vans, Half Minded Images.

OBSCENE: What’s your stance and board setup?
CORY: I ride regular, my foot spread is 24 inches apart and 15 degrees each way.

OBSCENE: How much traveling do you do? And where’s your favorite spot to ride?
CORY: I’m usually traveling most of the season. My favorite place to travel to would have to be Tahoe for sure.  The snow’s always good and lot’s of powder.

OBSCENE: What’s the craziest thing that’s happened to you on one of your trips?
CORY: Ha-ha ok, one time I was drinking at this party, I drank too much and I guess I wandered off, I don’t really remember, but I ended up falling asleep on a park bench. I woke up and there were bums sleeping all around me, I was tripping.  I didn’t know what was going on, I ended up walking to the bus station and taking the bus back to Mt. Hood.

OBSCENE: Why don’t you rock skis?
CORY: Ha-ha, I never tried and I don’t like to spread my legs.

OBSCENE: Back in the day I seen you rocking a pink board, what’s up with that?
CORY: Ha-ha, you had to bring that up.  That was before I had sponsors and my parents bought it for me so I had no choice.  Wait a minute, didn’t I give you that board? Lol

OBSCENE: What’s your favorite local spot to hip up?
CORY: Mountain High for sure.  There’s lots of jibs, the jumps are always good and all my friends are always up there, so it’s always a good time.

OBSCENE: You have your own rail up there that you designed.  Tell us about it.
CORY: It’s a down rail on the left with a ledge on the right, it has a staircase setup. It’s perfect to practice before you hit the streets.

OBSCENE: What’s your worse fall you’ve had?
CORY: Damm, there’s way too many to count. I’ve had a lot of really bad falls, lol.  It comes with the territory.

OBSCENE: What’s your favorite trick to do?
CORY: Fakie ollie backside 360.

OBSCENE: Tell us about the struggle from not always being pro to going pro.
CORY: You know, it’s been rough.  I started snowboarding when I was 12.  I didn’t always have rides to the mountain, so I would hitchhike or have friend’s parents take me. I didn’t always get passes, so I would sneak onto the lifts. I did whatever I had to do to get to the mountain and ride. Now I get free passes, I got my driver’s s license lol and I’m able to ride where I want when I want and it’s always a good time.

OBSCENE: Any final shoutouts you wanna give?
CORY: Yeah to all my friends that have had the bird boy’s back, and to all my sponsors that have helped me along the way, much love.
